VACATION
We’ll go to bed early
Cause tomorrow we leave.
But sleep will be elusive
As we toss and heave.
The minutes will be like hours
The night will drag on.
We’ll arise in the morning
Our eyes all bleary, our faces drawn.
But we’ll have some coffee
Our spirits will rise.
We’ll head for the ferry
As we say our goodbyes.
Warm weather far ahead
Is what we seek.
The many miles
Will take us a week.
On sandy shores
Our bodies will relax.
We’ll not even think
About our Income Tax.
When the short time
Is over and we head home.
The memories will fade
Like the waves and their foam.
