We are off to Duncan today for bowling competition, leaving at 8 am. I didn't get any more of Mission Bound written but I am still one day ahead.
On their arrival at the bank, Dr. Pearce asked to speak to one of the bank officials, he identified himself and said “I believe you should have a bank draft waiting here for me, it will be from the Bank of England.”

The two male members of the family headed off together.
The official said, “One moment Sir, I will check for you.” He turned and hurried away. A few moments later he returned “I’m sorry Sir, there does not seem to be a bank draft here for you, are you sure it is this branch?”
Dr. Pearce pulled a cable gram from his pocket and showed it o the man.
“Yes that is us Sir, but it hasn’t arrived.”
“Is there anywhere I can send a cablegram from? Dr. Pearce asked.
“Yes Sir, there is one down at the railroad station that services the public.”
“And where will I find the railroad station, please?”
“Here I’ll draw you a map, Sir. It isn’t far.”
A few moments later John and his father were on the street and walking down towards the waterfront. Ten blocks from the bank they entered the massive C.P. Rail station.
“I just pray our London office is still open.” Dr. Pearce said to John.
They located the telegraph office and in a few moments the telegraph operator cabled off this message. “To Church of England, London Diocese, Missionary Services stop

After the message had been sent, Dr. Pearce steered John outside saying “We’ll take a short walk, we should be only a short distance from where our boat docked last night.”
The two strolled together, one of the few times in John’s life when he and his father had just a few moments of father and son time together. They checked in at the telegraph office after an hour; no reply had been received.
They then walked about the massive train station, watched one train arrive and another depart, then as they turned to walk back again to the telegraph office they spotted the telegrapher waving at them. They hurried over to the man and he handed Dr. Pearce a cablegram. “Just arrived sir, just this minute.”
