Well I was up early, but didn't get on here until now (0830).
Was cooler earlier but now in sun it is 25C.
Got the sad news yesterday morning that a friend -Jan- of the last 43 years passed away Monday night. The picture to the right is when we all hiked the Bugaboos in 1986. She fought the good fight. True to form she was at home with her family.

Unable to restrain myself I fell on it and started chewing. There were tiny morsels stuck to it I ate them with abandon; I was enjoying my first taste of real meat.
Bernice watched me, then she carefully lay down and after a bit I fell asleep, I woke up once and found myself pressed close to her warm body, I snuggled tighter and went back to sleep.
The next day my lady was back, she let out a loud “ Oh no!” when she looked in my crate. The man who had accompanied her hurried over and when he saw the empty crate he left quickly and in a moment the whole area was flooded with light. They wandered about calling out, “Here puppy, puppy, come on puppy.” I sat and watched for a moment then remembering the bone I found it and dragged it over to one corner and started chewing once more. Bernice sat up and yawned then when she spotted me with the bone said, “That’s enough, it is mine you know.” She leaned forward to take it – what a grump.
I growled fiercely then for the first time in my life I barked, it startled her and she drew back so I barked at her again. She sort of shrugged then turned to watch the two humans. They must have heard my barks because they both hurried over. By this time I was chewing again and throwing in a few growls for good measure. It was rather weird because they both stared for a moment then started laughing. It was hardly a laughing matter, I was hungry and I had laid claim to the only food in sight.
They opened Bernice’s cage and lifted me out, I hung onto that bone even though it was quite heavy. The man fetched a hammer from somewhere and mended my cage and I was placed back in. My lady snatched the bone away from me and gave it back to Bernice and quickly dropped a couple of cookies, for some reason she gave a couple to Bernice as well.
The man said to my lady, “Well that big one may be a hundred and fifty pound St. Bernard but we know who the boss is.”
She smiled then said, “Can you wait? I’ll have to go and find something else to feed him.”
“You wait here lady, I’ll go get something from the galley.”
He turned and left but was back in a short while, I watched in dismay as he threw three large bones into Bernice’s cage then handed a small bowl of milk to my lady to put in mine. Then with a smile he reached into a bag he was carrying and dragged out two small bones both with an ample of covering of meat, these he dropped down to me. Before they left Bernice also got a large pan of water. I settled down to do justice to the first bone and didn’t even notice them leave.
