I had this all typed out last night then deleted it accidentally so decided to leave until today.
We left Prince George about 1pm on Sunday. Visited Sharon Hawkins in McBride, this was the first we’ve seen her since Ron died several months ago. We drove on through Mt. Robson Park and on to Jasper. It seemed odd to see the Fraser River dropping into Moose Lake as I had described in my poem “The Mighty Fraser” (can be found somewhere back in blog archives). We couldn’t find a campground with a vacancy until we reached Edson. Did see several really magnificent bull elk at the the east end of Jasper park.
We left Edson around 10am and drove on to Ft. Saskatchewan (just north of Edmonton. We went up to Elk Island Park and got some good photos of the buffalo that reside there. We didn’t get away till after noon the next morning (yesterday the 25th), we shopped in Lloydminister and arrived at Spruce Lake about 6pm.
I really enjoy this part of Saskatchewan, it is quite beautiful and as the weather was warm and sunny ---!
I forgot – gas prices. Pr. Geo 1.269,Edson was 1.129, East of Edson 1.089, found 2 prices in Edmonton, 1.049 west side; 1.089 0n East side. In Lloydminister we paid 1.049.
Today will be a busy day as lots to do as M’s cousin Billy is recently confined to a wheelchair and when you are a farmer , own 2 or 3 sections of land and run about 100 head of cattle and there is work to get the reunion up and running – well I’m sure you get the picture.
I’ll try and keep up on entries on here but the wireless connection is at Billy’s son’s house a bit of aways away. Will also post a few pictures taken along the way.
Didn't get this out earlier as Billy went out on his golf cart and got stuck out in one of the fields, had to find him and then get him unstuck and back home again. Good thing he carries a cell phone.
