Aug 12

15 C and sunny.
I have only a few moments this am as Today is the day the men bowl in Victoria (Juan de Fuca).
Friends arrived yesterday and spent the night, so will be leaving them still in bed.

A final note on forestry - Like most government beaucracies the Forest Service developed a language that sounds to them highly sophisticated and is barely understood by anyone else. Oddly enough instead of earning them deeper respect their conversations annoy outsiders and consequently the opposite to what they assume. I became aware of this when I retired and realized that I had fallen into that mold.

I hope someday that common sense will someday return to the governing of our forests, but probably things have moved to far and now there are a couple of generations of elected officials and government employees who think that what they do today is the only way.
