#2 today

I am just whiling away time so thought I would see if I can add anything.
I'm in sitting the lounge at the seniors lodge and am surrounded by people who range in age from their early 80's to middle 90's. They come to the lounge to listen to music (together) to watch TV (together), to have a cup of tea/coffee (together); obviously the key word is together. For the most part rhey are widows or widowers and although they each have their own apartments and can do the three things there, they come here giving up the music they would prefer or the Tv channel they would prefer so that they can have others around them. Sometimes they talk a bit to each other, they do pair up a it ( I was just asked to move over a couple of chairs so that one of the ladies could sit beside one of the men that I have noticed in my last few visits sit together most of the time). I suppose they all feel a certain amount of loneliness and the male/female companionship is entirely innocent and reflects something that  they once had and has been taken from them.
Of course there are a few stalwarts who stay in their rooms and others that come into this room but manage to stay slightly aloof.
They have a swimming pool; seldom used although on ice cream Saturdays they manage to congregate out there for a fw minutes. I have noticed that when we are here and go for a dip, quite a few rotate out to surreptiously watch us. I believe it's because through us they visit tose days when they would have been in the water enjoying themselves.
On Sundays when one of the various church denominations come, most of the residents attend the service, a few for the religious words, but most for the hymn singing. They all love sing alongs and when guest musicians stop by each week, there is always good attendance as long as they are wise enough to play the oldies that people this age are familiar with.
Oh yes, Happy Hour on Fridays is always well attended, everyone gets a free wee glass of wine or a short beer or a soft drink - I don't think it's the alcohol so much - I think it's because it's free!
They may be old but!!!
