January 29

Warm and sunny
Yesterday's wind has died down. I washed the motorhome this morning, we didn't bowl because we understood no bowling on Sunday - wrong. B and K arrive this pm for an overnite.
I will paste what I have prepared of the story. This is all I have typed so far. I will work on it back at the M/H until Todds arrive.
I see some more of my books have been sold via Barnes and Noble, "It's A Dogs Life" seems to be the popular one. I thought "From Within" was the best.. “God I hope this works. I know a magnifying glass will but is there enough in this?” He asked aloud.
He positioned himself to one side of the pit and leaned forward holding the piece of glass a short distance from the small pyramid. He angled it and twisted it, once as he moved his hands a bright spot the size of a finger nail appeared on the sand in front of the small pile.
Carefully if not patiently he twisted again and was successful in moving the spot onto the paper. ‘Gotta get it smaller’. Slowly he twisted the  glass and gradually the spot reduced in diameter ontil it was no bigger than a thick pencil led. Almost immediately a brown spot appeared on the paper then blackened! He was afraid to move so he locked his arms and blew puffs of air at the expanding black area, a curl of smoke appeared then a tiny flame burst forth!
Bob put the glass to one side and carefully added a few more of the small twigs then gradually worked up to larger ones, within a few minutes he was adding some of the drift wood.
‘Now for some steamed oysters.” He thought.
He went down to one of the rocks and knocked off one large oyster, when he got back he placed it between the wall of the pit and the fire.
He turned the oyster several times, eventually steam started coming from between the two shells then they opened slightly. Bob quickly arranged a few embers so that the oyster was almost surrounded, waited a few minutes then wrapping one hand in a bit of remaining rag he pulled the oyster from the fire and set it aside to cool. Five minutes later he sat back and relished the first hot food he had had in almost a week.
After sitting for  a while, he stood gathered his water bottles and headed for the spring.
