April 22
10C High cloud
Had to drain the hot tub again, there is still a leek at one of the couplings.
Yesterday was opening day at the bowling club. The green was fairly good. A little slow due to the still present ground moisture.

then moved to a third hole and started to drink.
The last was the one Bob wanted, but she was angled away from him, the shot would be difficult. He refocused on the first doe but as he did the last one suddenly shook her head and twisted her neck as she reached with a hind foot and scratched at her head. She then shifted and stood broadside to the blind as she raised her head and stared down the beach.
Bob shifted his point of aim, pulled the arrow back, took a deep breath, held for a second then let fly!
The arrow flew across the expanse of rock and buried itself behind the shoulder of the deer. She jumped, her back arched she took a couple of steps then fell to her front knees and rolled over on one side.
The other doe lifted her head and stared at her prostrate companion, then lowered her head and took another sip. Then sensing something she made a small noise and with her fawn ahead of her, ran past Bob and straight into the bush.

Chapter 5

A couple of hours after Bob had gathered up his gear and started off, the same aluminum boat that he had watched two days earlier arrived back in the bay. This time it came straight into shore and the solitary figure steered the boat to one of the sandy spots on the beach.
This time there was no hat to hide the fact that the figure in the boat had long black hair and when she stood to step out onto the sand there was no doubt that the boat operator was a young woman and not a boy.
She dragged the boat a foot or so up onto the sand then got back in and tilted the motor out of the water. Then getting out again, she picked up a small anchor resting on a coil of rope and after walking up the beach firmly planted the anchor behind a large boulder.
She went back to the boat and picked up a worn pack sack; she opened the top flap and pulled out a weathered looking piece of paper. When she unfolded it, there was a map on the folded-in areas. She twisted it about, lining the map up with the shoreline. She nodded slightly and whispered, “I knew I was right, this has to be the place.”
