6C - cloudy
We went down to the bowls club and helprd finish setting up for todays garage sale. Then in the evening we went to Grandson Tucker's school openhouse/fair.
As far as I know there are no more published poems of Alan's but I did find the following one in his book and typed it out yesterday. There may be more but I'll have to keep reading to find out. It is untitled in the book so I took the liberty of adding one.
Rollercoaster
Rollercoaster,
That shaky track,
Echoing the rhythm of my blood.
Coursing up that hill,
Nightmare falling down,
Plummeting to the corner,
Gonna fly off, fly
Into oblivion, darkness, but no!
Railings hold us
Keep us shaken and crazed
Holding onto mortality.
Respect and life
All a freaking rollercoaster
Bi-polar
Fairly sane in an insane world
I’ll say.
Round the bend into the sky, what’s up
Where’s I gonna land
Are them rails gonna pull through
That next corner, Hiding it’s sight
Hiding it’s goddamn sight from me.
Bring it on Ticket man
I’ll go again, those rails will hold
Till the day they don’t.
