16C Sun
Started the pairs tournament in Victoria last night, won one, lost one.
The haze from the fires in Siberia and other parts of Asia was very noticeable last night.
With the smoke drifting up from the States and that from the west it could get soupy and we haven't had any significant yet.
Son Jim here for the Snowberry today, I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy her again as she takes to a new life on a lake.

and get on with becoming
un-hermitized.”
Alicia nodded, “Yes I guess
that is a good idea and I am sure there must be some legal ramifications that
may have to be dealt with as a result of your being missing. Right now though
I’m going to leave you on your own for an hour or more. We need water and I
still have a couple of things in the boat.” She paused, “No forget that stuff
for today. I just remembered my sleeping bag and tent are on that travois
thing, I’ll bring them in and make sure they’re dry and tonight I’ll be able to
put the whole night in on the floor.”
She jumped up and brought in
the two forgotten items and after a short struggle got them both hanging from
the rafters. “Now, I’m off for that water.” She picked up the two pails and was
gone.
Bob lay back on the bed for a
few minutes then shaking his head slightly he said to the empty room, “Sure was
a lot better when she was here talking.” He smiled to himself.
He whittled on the rough
crutch until he was satisfied then struggled up off the bed and onto his feet.
For the first few steps around the room he was awkward and almost fell once.
Then getting the hang of it he made several circuits, getting better each time
he completed a lap.
He managed to get the stove
door open and tossed in a stick of wood, then closed the door again.
He sat and rested for a few
minutes then decided to go out to his bush toilet. He made that short trip
easily although he caught on foot on a protruding root and almost fell.
Back in the cabin, he
stretched out on the bed and lay back; his mind galloped through the events of
the last few months, slipping back briefly to when his wife had died. Then
relived what he could remember of the boat sinking, he relived the
confrontation with Alicia and walked slowly through the last two days and how
she had undoubtedly saved his life.
