Away early to Clarkdale and Jerome and a 4 hour ride on the Verde Canyon rail line . Jerome was interesting. The train trip was ok but not very spectacular. A bit disappointed in the service.
Had supper in Clarkdale then home about 8 pm.

The year they were sixteen, after an episode that surrounded a baby seal, an episode they both shared only seconds apart, they decided to map out when and where each thing happened.  They discovered that each instance was physically tied to a place and an incident that had happened many years before they were born.  They also discovered through discreet questions to parents and other family member’s of Cindy that there was no sequence, only the brief vision on a spot where apparently something had occurred to Brian’s grandfather or one of Cindy’s Aunts, Uncles or Great, Great Grandparent.  The instances were confined to a couple of kilometers from Ruby Bay.

 By now they had both lost any fear of these instances and in fact welcomed them when they happened and would eagerly share the event with each other.  One day Cindy said it’s like we have someone who likes us and is sharing his or her life.

 Eventually high school was behind them, in spite of the friends they each had, neither had a boy or girl friend relationship with anyone else.  They communicated frequently through electronic means and when various holidays came around they would take turns visiting.

 Brian enrolled at the University of the North and majored in Environmental Studies with the emphasis on fish habitat. When he graduated he went to work for a firm that was headquartered in North Vancouver but had research stations in several small coastal communities.  On his request he was assigned to one that studied the major lower coast inlets.

  Cindy went to UBC, took a year of marine biology then transferred over to the Nursing program.  Upon graduation she went to work at the hospital just down the highway from Ruby Bay, but took night courses on the care of the elderly with the objective of working in a local home for the aged.

 During their university years, their relationship as friends prevailed although stressed at times by other priorities.  However once settled into ‘after school’ they made opportunities to get together when ever feasible.  In the beginning they reminisced about their childhood, the bond between their two families and those instances of ‘recall’.  They filled in the blanks about all the times when each was pursuing their career objectives.
