Bowled, Cheryl arrived with the Todds, the rest of the day doing this and that. The gals went shopping just before supper time for an hour- two hours later they got back!
Marsh clapped Jesus on the shoulder and headed out the main entrance, he had already decided he should keep up the facade in case he was being watched. A cab was parked right out side and he got in the back and said,
“The Federal Officinos por favor.”
The driver pulled away without replying, entered the mass of taxis, buses and other cars, after a few blocks he turned down a side street then immediately into an alley. Marsh used to taxi drivers and shortcuts paid no heed until the car slammed to a halt. Immediately his door was wrenched open, he was grabbed and before he could resist was pulled half way out, catching a glimpse of the shine of a knife, he quit resisting and charged headlong into his assailant. The man caught off guard stumbled back and dropped his knife, Marsh followed him, caught him twice with two punches then sensing movement behind started to turn but was struck violently along side of the head. He went to his knees and was immediately kicked in the ribs by the first attacker, he caught a glimpse of the taxi driver his mouth twisted in a snarl coming around the back of the taxi one arm raised and holding a piece of pipe. Marsh threw himself sideways and kicked out and up catching the second man in the knee, he rolled again but was caught by another kick to the head. Consciousness fading, Marsh tried to move along the alley on his back, his three attackers now working like a pack of vicious dogs moved in and wildly rained kicks at every part of his body. As he was slipping into oblivion, he thought he heard the sound of a roaring motor and the noise of a meaty impact, or was it just noise in his head and the sound of the blows on his body?
