Training novices in am. Grddtr.included. We have got the ok to finish her training on our own as thee official trainer has appraised her and will sign off on what we do. Club visit to Sun City Grand in pm. Not sure if we won overall or not sounded like most teams had a split. My team won both, so that may have given us the edge. Very hot yesterday. 96 f at the MH.

When they arrived, Jose introduced the Jefe of the station, Martino Cristobal.  He greeted them in a warm but slightly officious manner, however as they talked and discussed the program, he became friendlier although a slight aura of reserve was maintained.  This puzzled Marsh as he had met Martino briefly the year before.  After touring the premises and meeting Valentino Bolivar the senior bombero and assigned training interpreter, they were guided to a pleasant house a short distance away.  Martino explained that this was a house no longer used by an Uncle and rather than a hotel, he thought that it would be suitable for the helicopter crew and the trainer.  There would be a cook/maid provided, but also there were several restaurants on the next street.
Marsh liked the idea and when he found that the cost would be substanTially less than hotel accommodation, he liked it even better.  He commended Martino on the idea and with that the last vestiges of any reserve disappeared.
When they arrived back at the office, Martino held them outside and with a flourish pulled out a silver whistle and blew it.  From out of the office, the garden in the back and some barracks the entire station crew of bomberos came running.  Each man was dressed in matching shirts and carrying either a machete or a shovel.  They quickly lined up, “dressed” their line and stood at attention.
Martino turned to Marsh and said, “Por favor Senor, would you care to inspect my men?’
Marsh suppressing a smile said, “Gracias, Senor, it would be my honor; as my chief assistant may Senora Rosada assist me in this task?”
Valentino, beamed, his chest swelling said, “Por supesto, of course Senor, when you are ready.”
Marsh indicated to Elena to follow him and out of the corner of his mouth muttered, “One half step behind.”
