Packing my suitcase in the morning, then in pm mens bowls.
Funny day weather wise, quite warm at times but mostly o/c.
I'll be away until next Tuesday, so no story until then.

Chapter 2.
For the next two days the family
entertained themselves by wandering through the large department stores in the
down town area and two visits to Stanley Park. Overriding Mrs.
Pearce’s objections, Doctor Pearce even took the children to an early movie at
the Strand on the second night. “After all my dear it’s Pinocchio,”
was his response to her objections.
As
they were eating breakfast on the third day, one of the desk clerks came to
their table to say that there was a telephone call for Doctor Pearce and he
could take it at the desk.
It
was the bank; the funds had just arrived by cable!
Doctor
Pearce went back to the dining room and excused himself saying, “I must hurry
to the bank and get this matter settled, perhaps my dear” to Mrs. Pearce, “you
could check the train schedules again while I’m gone.”
A
half hour later the doctor was back, up in their room Mrs. Pearce said “There
is a train leaving at half past twelve today
but I don’t think we have time to get repacked and over to the station. The
next one is the day after tomorrow- Saturday- at the same time.”
“Very
well, Saturday it shall be.” Shall we all walk down to the station and I will
purchase our tickets today.”
In
short order they were all strolling along the side walk and down to the C.P.R
station. On their arrival the doctor left the family to wander about while he
went to purchase the tickets. However a few moments later he waved to Mrs.
Pearce and beckoned her to come over to the ticket counter. “There are no
staterooms left my dear we can have Pullman berths for three, that is all.”
Mrs.
Pearce didn’t hesitate, “That will be fine, the three girls will sleep together
in one and John will have one to himself.”
The
doctor nodded and turned back to make the purchase.
No
one wanted to visit the department stores again, so they decided to visit Stanley Park one more time. On the way they stopped to buy some buns
and cheese for a picnic lunch, then spent all afternoon wandering about and
visiting the monkey cages one last time.
They returned to the hotel for their dinner
and the two youngest were sent to bed as soon as they returned to their room.
The two elder Pearces quietly discussed their future plans while John and Jean
each wrote a letter to the friends they had left behind at the Harbour.
The
next day seemed endless for the children and finally Mrs. Pearce asked her
husband “Do any of those movie houses have matinees? Perhaps that would help
pass the time.”
Doctor
Pearce picked up the newspaper he
had read through twice and turned to the entertainment section, “Yes, the Odeon
and the Paramount both have two o’clock matinees, ‘My
Darling Clementine’ at one and ‘The Yearling’ is on at the other.”
“Well I don’t like the sound of the first,”
Mrs. Pearce said. “What is the other one about?”
“It’s
about a young boy and his love for a deer.”
“Hmm,
that sounds like it might be suitable, why don’t you take them to that.”
“What
about you my dear, wouldn’t you like to go as well?”
“No,
I have my knitting and my bible, I will stay here.”
Knowing
better than to argue, Doctor Pearce said, “Alright children get your shoes on,
better take a coat as well; we are off to see a deer movie.”
