Very long day yesterday. We woke up early in Dublin, got up about 4:30. Caught the 7 am bus to the airport. Got seats on an Aer Lingus flight - 3 hours early than scheduled. 55 minutes to London, but a holding pattern for 15 minutes. Loaded on time on Air Canada, but the airport held the plane at the loading gate for an hour and a half, then another 20 minutes in stop and go getting to takeoff position. Nice flight across the staff were good, free meals and anything you wanted to drink.
Had 25 minutes to make our connection on arrival, had to clear customs then got held up over ahalf hour because connecting passengers had to re-screened. They had held our plane for 10 minutes or so, but it was long gone by the time we got to the gate. Caught the 8 pm flight, leaving 15 minutes late. In the door( thanks Cheryl) about 9:15. So if my calculations are correct we were travelling for about 25 hours. But this morning we are drinking fresh home brewed coffee, not hotel instant stuff!
We had a great trip in spite of some set backs in the first week and those last 25 hours. We found some great new friends that may very well turn out to be related, were fortunate to have a personal and personable guide for several days and home guests at Rynvle and to get some excellent genealogy research done. Thank you Roe family.
And as we sat in yvr last night an older English gentleman thought that I was originally from Ireland because as he said I have an irish accent! A real complement!
