Bowled in the am, finished current training in the pm. Wow, 15 new members!
Sat around rest of day, in bed by 9.
We had a well right out the back that supplied our water but all drinking water was bottled. Monica (our cook) turned out to be an excellent cook, she also did the noon time meal for the guards and they ate at a table outside.we took it easy the day of our arrival after the long flight, but the next morning Eric came and fetched us and we went down to meet the rest of the staff.
Most of them had some English and Eric was actually an American so language wise we did ok. Our two years in Mexico and the hours of studying Spanish payed off.
The first order of business was to understand what Eric actually wanted from me as this somehow and not unusual had got a it lost along the way.
So a protection plan for the park, a fire fighting manual and training his staff for fire fighting became the objectives.
To do any of this, I needed to understand the physical features and get a feel for what the park was all about. We spent the first few days travelling about extensively on foot and by 4 wheel drive.
For the most part (90 0/0) of the park was untouched dry jungle with walking trails hand constructed that offered visitors the opportunity to enjoy the jungle experience.
